Life Lesson

Whether we want it or not, different experiences shape our personality. Different life lessons make us what we are. Some of them are strange experiences, some others are just something we all need to live.

Last Monday I had a life experience that shocked me. Two different ways of life, two different things we don’t understand but two things we should value. Sanity and Youth…

Sanity, not neatness, but mental sanity is a key value in a normal life. But what is sanity? We could define it by the dictionary but it would be just some meaningful words… think of sanity in experience. Sanity of that people who did something we thought it was crazy but succeeded… that is just risky but not insane. Insane is that person who lives in a different plane of existence, they see and do things that we can’t. But are we all sane? No, we aren’t we do see stuff too! But we don’t live in an alternate world or see really weird things (unless we are under the influence of drugs).

Last Monday I saw a person who was mentally insane. He was talking to a inexistent crowd about an inexistent topic. He was shouting, he WAS right and he was showing the world it will come to an end… that was truly disturbing. I was thankful for being sane and intelligent. Able to see the world as it is supposed to be… glad that life is normal.

Youth,  is also a key factor. We are young only once… and as time goes our life is consumed. I was accompanying my grandmother to her elder group in church and saw the sadness of getting old. While they were thankful of being alive they lost their happiness, mental agility and physical too. It was invited to talk to the group as I was the only young guy. My respects were paid to their energy of grouping once a week, their strength for coming from different places and reuniting to talk, share and pray. Finally, as an example for others of how to be and what to do in life, no matter what we do they’re truly an example of how to deal with life… yet they’re time is being consumed and their faces show less happiness, less understanding and more pity.

So, my dear readers… who ever you are remember to enjoy your youth and sanity. They’re gifts that we need to be thankful for… we never know when those gifts will be taken away from us!
